Spotted a good (but too short) segment on NBC's Today Show Wednesday on extended warranties. Lou Manfredini, host of "HouseSmarts," says by and large, extended warranties are unnecessary. It jibes with what Consumer Reports has said over the years, that the cost of the repair would be about the same as the cost of the extended warranty. The segment below also includes some simple tips on getting your refrigerator, washing machine, and vacuum cleaner to work better.
