First Post

Hello.  My name is Jim Long and I am the morning news guy on 92.9 The Wave, Star 1310, ESPN Radio 94.1 and occasionally, 97.3 The Eagle.  I'm creating this blog so I can share some of the more useful stories I come across with friends and listeners.  And because I don't have enough time to put it all on the air.

My first post and several of the posts that will come later will concern reusing and recycling.  Recycling is a regular part of my life and I saw something in the 1/31/11 edition of the Daily Press that could be of interest to people in the Williamsburg area.

The news guy's size 13 eyesores.
Believe it not, old sneakers can be reused.  No, I'm not advocating sharing your ten year old grass cutters (like those at left) with someone else.  Instead, they can be recycled through Nike's "Reuse a Shoe" program.   Drop off old athletic shoes at the Nike Factory Store at 5699 Richmond Road in Williamsburg and they'll be turned into new running tracks, basketball courts and tennis courts.  Learn more at www.nikereuseashoe.com
